Customer Testimonial:

Thumbs up, absolutely the best Base Pearl I have ever used. After using Alsa Base Pearl if the other paint products are as great as the Base Pearl then I will start using Alsa for all my painting needs. I have looked over the Alsa web by far the best paint site I have ever seen. So far no one here in Kentucky has ever heard of Alsa paints, that is about to change. Thanks for a great product. Thanks again, Smittie

Bullet Points

Alsa’s “Base Pearls” are a pearlescent additive, in automotive grade urethane paint. Our Base Pearls all have very high pigment levels for excellent coverage, and a deep, vibrant, pearlescent look. And they really pop!

Alsa Base Pearls should be shot over a white base coat (except for “Black Gold”, part number ABP-16). That should be shot over a Black Base Coat, for best results.

Alsa Base Pearls should be top coated with a good clear coat (such as Alsa’s Speed Clear, part number SC1230) for durability, and a deep, water-wet gloss look.

  • Extremely high pigment level for amazing coverage
  • Deep pearlescent bling
  • Automotive grade urethane
  • Can be applied to a wide variety of materials
  • Compatible with most primers, and clear coats
  • Specialty Paint Collection
  • Advanced UV inhibitor Protection
  • High grade German pearl additive
How To (Application Guide):
  1. If your piece already has primer applied, proceed to step number 11. If your piece already has primer AND a WHITE base coat applied, then lightly scuff the surface for adhesion, and proceed to step number 12. If your piece already has a factory finish on it, that is not white, you can lightly scuff that, and proceed to step 11. If your piece already has a factory finish on it that is white, you can simply scuff that and proceed to step number 12.
  2. Always apply paints in a well-ventilated area, and wear a NIOSH approved respirator to avoid breathing any fumes.
  3. Make sure you have good conditions for spraying. The best temperature for spraying this paint, is 75-80 degrees F, and VERY low humidity.
  4. Prepare and prime your part first. Epoxy primers are best for bare metal, and primer surfacers are best for plastics, fiberglass, or wood. Some plastics may require an adhesion promoter but most plastics, like ABS plastic, are fine without adhesion promoters. Our tech support department can assist with what primer is best, if you are uncertain.
  5. Before applying your primer, remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt, and chemical contaminants, by washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or other suitable cleaning method.
  6. Rinse with fresh water and allow to completely dry.
  7. Remove any existing loose paint, or rust, etc., with a wire brush or sand paper.
  8. Lightly sand glossy surfaces to create a surface profile for adhesion.
  9. Apply your primer to the surface according to the manufacturer’s specifications for your particular primer.
  10. Let your primer cure according to the manufacturers specifications for your particular primer, and then lightly scuff that to create a surface profile for adhesion.
  11. Apply a white base coat (such as Alsa’s Pure White, part number ASB-14) as your under coat for your base pearls (unless using Alsa’s “Black Gold” peal paint, in which case use a BLACK base coat, such as Alsa’s Jet Black, part number ASB-13). Our ASB-Colors reduce at 1:1 ratio with medium reducer (AMR-2712).
  12. Now apply your “Alsa Base Pearl” base coat, using steady even passes, from about 8-10 inches away from the substrate, until you achieve an even coverage. Our ABP-Colors also reduce at 1:1 ratio with medium reducer (AMR-2712)
  13. If a second coat is required, let the first coat flash for about 10-15 minutes, and then apply your second coat over that; again, making sure to use steady even passes.
  14. Let your base coat flash for approximately 10-15 minutes, and then apply any high quality clear coat (such as Alsa’s Speed Clear, part number SC1230), and for durability, and a deep water-wet look, Speed Clear SC-1230.
