FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
|
 |
| Q. Is
SpectraFX a paint? |
A. SpectraFX is actually
a powdered flake additive which is available in a range
of sizes from very small to extra large. (XL flakes are
very big comparable to bass boat style flake.) |
| Q. What can it be put into? |
A. The best part about SpectraFX
is that it can be put into any carrier you choose, clear
basecoats, innercoat clears, even your final clear.
|
| Q. What color basecoat should
I use? |
A. A black basecoat will
produce the color change labeled on the jar, (for example:
copper/patina over a black base will give you a copper to
green change.) But using a red base with the same flake
will give you an entirely different set of colors. |
| Q. How much do I need to
add? |
| A. Again here is where the
versatility of SpectraFX shines. Depending on what color
basecoat you choose to put it over you may want to use just
a small amount, (for example 1 gr. per 5ounces of carrier.)
However for the hardest or most radical flops we recommend
using 1 gr. per ounce of carrier at this ratio only one
coat is needed for complete coverage.
NOTE! When adding to injection molding you will need about 5% by volume.
|
| Q. Do I need a special gun
to spray SpectraFX? |
A. SpectraFX will not clog
your gun as traditional metal flake does, however when spraying
the XL flake we recommend using at least a 2.0 fluid tip.
|
| Q. What colors are available? |
| A. As explained earlier there
are thousands of color combinations possible with just the
two colors copper/patina and blue/emerald by changing the
background color. However, available soon will be a gold/green
as well as an invisible/blue. (coming soon) |
