What is Xposures ®?

Xposures® is the first coating of its kind that can be sprayed. Remember the mood ring? Well it is like that but 1 million times better. Xposures® can be sprayed, roller applied, brushed, or even silk-screened. It only reacts to heat and or sun, and achieves the most dramatic looks over dark bases, especially black.
Xposures® can be applied to virtually any substrate including:
  1. Plastic
  2. Metal
  3. Fabrics
  4. Leathers
  5. Wood
  6. Glass
The true uniqueness is the fact that there are actually 8 colors that literally change before your eyes, making Xposures® the most spectacular coating ever made.

We want you to note this is a brand new Patent Pending coating and is currently being tested for abrasion, salt spray, humidity and more. What we can tell you is that it has lasted with it’s U.V. inhibitor in the direct sun for a period of 9 months with no change. (individual results may vary depending on coating thicknesses) As more tests are completed we will make the results available, until that time we will make no warranty expressed or implied as to the performance and or durability of this coating.

Application Guide

Step 1
Begin with a black surface for most dramatic results. ( If you need to paint the substrate black you will need the Xposures® black base sold separately)
Step 2
You will now begin applying Xposures® using very light coats making a few passes until desired results are achieved. DO NOT thin the Xposures® material itself. You will simply open up the fluid to the gun further then normal and increase your air pressure (also shake the bottle well prior to pouring). A very easy check to insure adequate coverage is to expose the piece to a source of heat and observe the color intensity, if more Xposures® is desired simply apply another light coat or two.
Step 3
Let the Xposures® layer completely dry. (usually within 30 min. air dry depending on conditions)
Step 4
Apply the Xposures® U.V. Inhibitor included with your Xposures® purchase beginning with light coats. Allow to dry between coats and re-apply until desired gloss is achieved. The UV Inhibitor can be thinned prior to spraying by using regular Mineral Spirits (non-odorless) at a ratio of no more than 20% (keep in mind a thinner layer will require multiple coats). Also this UV must be fully dry.
Step 5
Allow to fully dry. (At least 1-2 hrs. air dry depending on coat thickness is crucial to allow the U.V. Inhibitor to fully dry. This will require baking overnight if necessary to insure it is completely dry to the touch or the final clear will penetrate and kill the Xposures® results.
Step 6
Apply Alsa Clear (AC138) with appropriate Hardener; USE ONLY Alsa AC138 Clear as any other clear could migrate through the U.V. Inhibitor killing your Xposures® finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is Xposures® paint like other color shifting paints?
A. Xposures® is unlike any other color shifting paint ever in the way that you don’t need to move your head to see the change. Xposures will change “magically” before your eyes simply from exposure to heat or sun.
Q. What color would I see most?
A. Because Xposures® is heat reactive it will depend on the level of heat as well as the amount of breeze etc. but your vehicle will almost never be the same shade twice.
Q. How many colors are there?
A. In our most universal version there are 3 sets of 3 colors giving you eight distinct colors and multiple shades of colors between each color set.
Q. What color base do I need if Xposures® is clear?
A. Xposures® works most dramatically over a black basecoat.*We recommend using Xposures® black basecoat as we know the solvent content will not damage the extremely sensitive Xposures® coating.
Q. How much do I need?
The following chart will give you an idea of coverage however using more exposures will result in a more dramatic effect.
Q. Can Xposures® be applied over a pre-existing black basecoat?

A. Due to Xposure’s sensitivity to solvents we do not recommend application over any other coating outside the recommended components.

Q. Is Xposures® paint durable?
A. Xposure® paint with its supplied U.V. inhibitor is fine for simple handling etc. but for a completely durable and chemical resistant finish use Alsa’s AC138 Clear and Hardener.

*We have found other clears to destroy the U.V. barrier.

Q. How long will Xposures® last?
A. At this time we simply don’t know. However testing is ongoing and as the results become available they will be posted. Until then however, there is no warranty expressed or implied with respect to the performance of this coating.

* NOTE: We have had a control sample exposed to 9 months of direct U.V. with complete success.
